Breaking stigma on mental health within Asian communities.
My family left Indonesia during the Asian Financial Crisis, seeking safety from violence, discrimination, and economic hardship. We relocated to a quiet Canadian suburb. My parents rebuilt their lives from the ground up in their 40s. Just as we were settling in, our family faced the Global Financial Crisis—in a new and foreign country.
Overcoming that difficult chapter, my goal is to foster a culture of understanding, support, and healing. I learned firsthand what neglecting one’s health can do. And so I’m committed to making a positive difference. Normalizing conversations and to increase representation of mental health in Asian communities.
I have been making progress with myself and my community by:
Showing up consistently to therapy and apply learned skills and tools
Guide individuals to seek professional resources
Build a storytelling platform, Eastern Standard Times: the voice of global Asian youth
Create a 30 day online Asian Heritage Month event with Jennii Vo Le and Minh Do. A safe space during the 2019-2022 Coronavirus pandemic, to celebrate the wins of Asian Americans.
→ We had the privilege to have the winner of the Pulitzer Prize and New York Times best-selling novel ‘The Sympathizer’, Viet Thanh Nguyen, as a speaker
Mentor individuals interested in a tech career
Coach business owners on the Canadian market
